Custom Fabricated Soapbox Derby Car

Every now and again we get a unique project that allows our fabrication team to engage in truly playful work design, and this custom fabricated soapbox derby car did just that. Building a soapbox derby car for SFMOMA’s soapbox derby for the end client Cruise was equal parts engineering and fun. The race took place for the first time in over 40 years in McClaren park in San Francisco and we worked with our client Jack Morton Worldwide to design and build a custom fabricated model of Cruise’s driverless car, Poppy. The experiential marketing event exhibits the creativity of local artists in both the car design and winning trophy design, where the custom fabricated cars and trophies were presented individually to a crowd of adoring fans. Hats off to the participants, and our own little pit crew of creatives here at John Murray Productions.
