The California Nurses Association and National Nurses Organizing Committee held their 2019 Global Nurses Solidarity Assembly at the SF Hilton Union Square, bringing together nurses from around the world to promote patient rights and global activism, and JMP is proud to be a part of their production team. The three day event included a complete takeover of the hotel, including the Grand Ballroom for their plenary sessions featuring a centered 60’ x 15’ rear projection screen and flanking 16’ x 13’ LED walls. The Yosemite meeting space transformed into the nurses’ networking area and art gallery, featuring work by artist activists in a beautifully curated collection titled Recognition: Labor Meets Art in Explorations of Identity and Social Justice. Works such as Or, the Whale by Berkeley artist Jos Sances highlight social justice issues important to the nurses union. The look was big, bold and polished, befitting the nurses and what they stand for. We love the nurses and look forward to our next project with them.
John Murray Productions worked with Grass Shack Productions on Restoration Hardware's Management meeting held at the Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco. We were brought in to provide the scenic background for the company's annual event. The challenges consisted of creating a large 8' x 48' seamless wall that was painted on site in the ballroom. The ultra clean lines and simple design provided a classic environment for Team Resto to hold their meeting.
The Berkeley Repertory Theatre held their annual fundraising gala this April at the Roda Theatre, and JMP was proud to be a part of the event. Working in conjunction with event planner Marjorie Randell-Silver of Copper Leaf Productions, we learned that budget constraints can result in boundless creativity. Inspired by the concept of bringing the audience onstage, the theatre was transformed by using stage decks to elevate guests to stage level. Balloons in various sizes dotted the ceiling, with excerpts from the theatre's most recent plays projected on their surfaces. Bold use of color also added to the effect, with the entire lobby and patio windows covered in a translucent green vinyl covered with text. The event was a huge success, raising over $137k for the theatre.
The Annual Academy of Friends Oscar night gala was held this year at Ft. Mason, with the theme "Behind the Seams." John Murray Productions, Inc. provides production support and donates soft goods for the Bay Areas largest aids fund raiser. We also created an oversized zipper for the VIP lounge. The event is the largest Oscar party outside of Los Angeles with proceeds going to AIDS research, and John Murray Productions, Inc. is proud to be a part of this annual event since 1996.
